Greensboro Country Club Fitness Center Addition
Greensboro Country Club’s fitness/tennis facilities could no longer accommodate the growing membership and offer the exercise equipment and expanded fitness programs requested by the membership. ESPA, working with the Country Club’s Board, designed a 10,000-square-foot addition to fit into a tight area between the fitness facility, swimming pool complex, and golf course. ESPA designed the new facility so that the fitness center and tennis pro shop could remain open during construction. Once the new construction (locker rooms, cardio and multi-purpose exercise rooms) was completed, the 4,500-square-foot building that hosted the tennis pro shop and fitness center was renovated into a new tennis pro shop and weight training area. The exterior appearance of the addition incorporates the historic fabric of the campus along with the insertion of contemporary elements updating the image of the fitness center.
